We love to gather.
We love to pray.
We love to say, “Jesus is everything to me.”

But discipleship? That’s where most stop.
We think of it as optional.
An extra step for the bold ones.
A spiritual add-on — for the pastors, the teachers, the spotlight Christians.
But Jesus never gave us that option.
He said, Go. Teach. Baptize. Make disciples.
And not just with your words — but with your life.
Discipleship Is More Than a Bible Study
Discipleship is not a coffee date once a month.
It’s not a small group where we all nod and smile and go home unchanged.
It’s not just posting a verse online or sending a nice message when someone’s sad.
Real discipleship is messy.
It’s inconvenient.
It requires time, truth, tenderness — and accountability.
It’s pulling someone closer and saying, “I’ll walk with you. I’ll teach you what I’ve learned. I’ll speak the truth even when it’s hard. And when you fall, I won’t shame you — I’ll lift you.”
And when you’re the one who stumbles? You let them see that too.
Because discipleship doesn’t require perfection — it demands transparency.
Jesus Made Disciples — and So Should We
He didn’t spend His ministry alone.
He called ordinary men and women to follow Him, not just listen to sermons.
He sat with them. Walked with them.
Corrected them. Restored them.
Sent them out, and welcomed them back again.
He didn’t say, “Just believe in Me.”
He said, “Follow Me.”
That means:
- Teaching others to obey His Word.
- Modeling repentance when we miss the mark.
- Sharing not just our victories, but our process.
He never called us to be fans.
He called us to be followers who raise up more followers.
Why We Avoid It
We say:
- “I’m not a teacher.”
- “I don’t want the pressure.”
- “It’s not my gifting.”
- “I don’t know enough yet.”
But here’s the truth — if you’re a believer, you’re already discipling someone.
They’re watching how you live. How you respond. How you forgive. How you repent.
The question isn’t if you’re discipling — it’s what you’re discipling them into.
Complacency? Or Christ?
Discipleship is for Every Woman
Discipleship isn’t only for platforms and pulpits.
It’s for kitchens and car rides.
For voice notes and Scripture texts.
For “come over and help me fold laundry while we talk about Jesus.”
It’s for your daughter.
For your neighbor.
For that girl who keeps showing up in your life but doesn’t quite know why.
And it’s for you.
Because you were never meant to walk this faith out alone.
Closing: Don’t Just Follow — Lead Others to Follow
We started with friendship.
We moved into mentorship.
But discipleship is the thread that weaves it all together.
You don’t need a microphone.
You don’t need a seminary degree.
You just need a heart that’s willing to say:
“I’m following Jesus — and I’ll help you follow Him too.”
🕊 A Discipleship Prayer
Jesus, I don’t want to just believe in You — I want to follow You.
Teach me to live in a way that draws others to Your truth.
Give me the boldness to disciple the women You place in my path.
Help me to lay down my fear and excuses, and pick up the call You gave us all —
to make disciples in Your name.
Amen.
